Photography Spotlight #13 Mountains/ Volcanoes

This is the 13th Photography spotlight, This week’s theme is Mountains/ Volcanoes. Here in Auckland we have a lot of volcanoes (about 40 I think) and they are spread all over the city. I wanted to share some of them with you today. I know not everyone can take pictures of volcanoes so that’s why it’s mountains as well.

The View From The top

On a sunny-ish day, last week, a Monday to be precise. We took a trip up the Sky tower in Auckland to see the view from the top. I have done this a couple of times before in different cities (Sydney and Melbourne)  and really enjoy looking at the city from so high up. I wanted to go at sunset so we would get the best of the city in both daylight and darkness but He wasn’t going to wait till that late at night to go. Continue reading “The View From The top”

Photography Spotlight #11 Alphabet

This is the 11th Photography spotlight, This week’s theme is the Alphabet.

While looking back over various pictures on my Instagram account I found these. I remember exactly when I took them, in a small village in England called Bourton on the water. We had gone for the weekend I had seen a great image in a shop where someone had used letters in the natural world to create the word love. As we walked around I kept spotting these things which looked like letters. So I thought it would a great challenge to try to photograph the whole alphabet.

Have you spotted letters in the natural world?

This is the 7th Photography spotlight, This week’s theme is Clock’s.

I take pictures of clocks all around the world. Time can be tricky when you in a different time zone. Some places are really strict and trains will leave the second they are supposed to but other countries can be a lot more relaxed and leave minutes if not hours later than scheduled.

If you’d like to join in, all you have to do is create a post titled “Photography Spotlight #7 clocks” then post the link to your blog in the comment section on my page.

Te Papa

So on our first full day in Wellington we decided to visit Te papa. This is the national museum of New Zealand it covers a wide range of areas from the natural world and local environment to history of the Maori and New Zealand.  We spent most of the day here as there is much to see, The most amount of time was spent in the newest exhibition Gallipoli: the scale of our war. We did queue for about 45 mins to get in but it was well worth it.
