So here is my blog in review for 2015. The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2015 annual report for my blog. I know it’s a little late in coming but since I started in august here’s how things are looking.
Here’s an excerpt:
A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 2,500 times in 2015. If it were a cable car, it would take about 42 trips to carry that many people.
I know we are not all here to write blog posts to reach the masses, some of us are just here to let loose, write for therapy. But whatever your motives are Link ups and link parties are a great way to get your blog posts out to a wider readership but also to find a more diverse selection of blogs to read. I try and participate in a wide range of link ups to build up the readership of my blog. It really works. When I make an effort to link up I can see the difference in my stats.
Now, what is a link party I hear you ask. Imagine this.
Day to day, we all go about our own business, but once in a while we go to a party and meet up with friends. Imagine now going to a party where you don’t know anyone, you chat to new people and make some new friends. This is a link up. You go to a blog and know no one, but leave your blog link and maybe visit a few new blogs and find some great new content to read.
To help you link up there is a wide range of link ups depending on what type of blog niche you have. Here are some that I have found.
My favourite is over at Dream big, Dream often there is a weekly chance to leave a link and either have it reblogged or just linked up with everyone else in the comments.
A lot of sites will have a directory of link ups they have found or use. Many will have a variety of different link up themes. So there should be one for your blog’s niche and every day of the week.
Vicky FlipFlop Travels – Sziget Festival – Some excellent on site info about this music festival. I went a couple of years back and really enjoyed it, we didn’t camp, but the atmosphere is awesome. I look forward to hearing more about the festival in coming posts.
So obsessed with – September recap + what’s on my shelves – An interesting look into a bloggers life in September.
In a faraway land – There are some great posts here with lots of travel info, especially for New Zealand where I am currently.
The Horizon Chaser – Looking for a good donut in Melbourne? Come check out this Donut crawl, listing some of the best and worst places to get a donut.
Make, Take & Teach – a great teaching blog that I stumbled upon in my search for resources.
I have been posting daily for most of November for the NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month). So far I think I regret signing up. It may be that because I’ve fallen ill and am not feeling at my best so the last thing I want to do is think about my blog or write posts.
Think back over what I’ve written in the last few weeks I’d day the quality of what I’m posting has gone down. I’m getting lazy. 😦
I guess this does prove that you can burn out from blogging. I may have to stop trying to post daily and save myself from complete burnout.
I need to get back to my schedule of posting and actually go back to using my editorial calendar to get ahead of myself. Even though we are now 23 days into the month and I know there are only 8 more days to go……….
So today’s challenge goes out to the wonderful Lynz at Lynz Real Cooking. She constantly inspires my taste buds with her recipes. She also gives some interesting insights into life in Saudi and some beautiful pictures. Maybe some food based quotes will be coming our way?
