The Ultimate, Ultimate Book Tag

1. Do you get sick while reading in the car?

No, i could never have survived the many car journeys without books.

2. Which author’s writing style is completely unique to you and why?

A really tricky question this one. I’m not sure.

3. Harry Potter Series or the Twilight Saga? Give 3 points to defend your answer.

Harry potter. I never read the twilight series as the first film put me off. even though i have been told the books are much better but i can’t do it. To much teenage angst.

4. Do you carry a book bag? If so, what is it in (besides books…)?

I have a handbag which can take a book and/or my kindle.

5. Do you smell your books?

Yes, they smell great. I know i’m odd.

 6. Books with or without little illustrations?

I’m really bothered by the illustrations except for maps at the beginning of books like The Lord of the Rings.

7. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing? (Ex. I read Twilight before I read HP and thought the writing was amazing but read HP and now think Twilight is a little bit of a joke.)

8. Do you have any funny stories involving books from your childhood? Please share!

erm…….. not really.

9. What is the thinnest  and the thickest book on your shelf?

I don’t really have many books on my shelf at the moment but the thickest is A crown for cold silver by alex marshall and the thinnest is The hunting of the last dragon by sherryl Jordan

10. Where is your favourite place to read?

I love to read somewhere warm, cosy and with a brew.

11. Do you write as well as read? Do you see yourself in the future as being an author?

I blog but i don’t write as such. I don’t aim to be an author anytime soon but you never know what will happen in the future.

12. When did you get into reading?

I got into reading when i was younger, according to my parents i want from not wanting to read and being behind to reading everything in sight and ending up years ahead in my reading age. By the time i was 10 i had read the Lord of The Rings and other classics which weren’t common reads then.

13. What is your favorite classic book?

I love the books written by Luisa May Alcott – Little women, Little men and Jo’s boys.

14. In school was your best subject Language Arts/English?

Not really but i loved reading and got through tons of books.

15. If you were given a book as a present that you had read before and hated…what would you do?

Smile, Say thanks and then go to a book shop and trade it in for one i’d like to read.

16. What is a lesser known series that you know of that is similar to Harry Potter or the Hunger Games?

Probably the Tomorrow series by John Marsden set in Australia based around a group of kids who go camping and war breaks out in the town.

17. What is a bad habit you always do related to reading?

I hate to be interrupted while i’m reading but have a terrible habit of talking to people whose books look interesting while they are reading.

18. What is your favorite word?

hmmmmmmm, i don’t really have one. i like the concept of spoonerisms.

19. What is your favourite book genre? Why?

I love Fantasy because it really lets you escape and enter a world where there is magic, dragons, wizards and all the cool stuff.

20. Do you eat or drink while reading?

Tea and biscuits, Lunch if i’m reading at work, dinner if i’m eating alone and i have a good book. So yes i guess so but only sometimes.

21. Do you skip pages or read ahead?

No i don’t, not normally anyway. Recently i watched the first series of the game of thrones TV show before reading the book and skipped a lot of the first book as it was very similar to the TV show. Normally i don’t though.

22. Do you write in books?

NO, i hate the thought of writing in books. Even school texts i struggled to make notes in and ended up littering mine with a million notes on post-its.

23. Do you read one book or more than one?

No, i can’t keep the stories straight in my head and will end up getting confused. I am reading a non-fiction and a novel at the moment and that seems to be ok but one of the books will always grab me more and i’ll forget about the other book until i finish it.

 24. Can you stop reading anytime you want or do you have to stop at a certain page, chapter, part, ect.?

It depends. If it’s a really great book i have to be at a good place to stop in the story. Mostly i try and stop at the end of a paragraph, page or chapter whichever is easiest.

25. AND FINALLY: Bookmark or random piece of paper?

I love bookmarks and have many at home. While travelling i have lost many so have given up on buying them and just use whatever i can find to mark my page. Train, Bus, Ferry tickets, Parking receipts and recipes to name a few things. However, at the moment i am using one of those magnetic bookmark type things which i got with some journalling supplies.
